freedom to marry week

I know, I know… I’m a few days late on this. I kept meaning to post about it, all week, but extra blogging time has been quite elusive. I did want to officially state this blog’s (ok, my) support of “Freedom to Marry Week”, being hosted for the 12th year in a row by the Freedom to Marry organization, which is a “gay and non-gay partnership to win marriage equality nationwide.”  The goal of this week is to encourage people to talk with their family, friends, and community about why they support marriage equality. Take the pledge today.

To say that I am enthusiastic about this cause would be a gross understatement. I believe that this is THE civil rights issue of our generation, and am fully confident that equality will be granted in my lifetime, hopefully sooner than later.

I’d also like to take this opportunity to post the “Fidelity: Don’t Divorce” video that’s been making the rounds on the blogosphere. If this doesn’t tug your heartstrings, I don’t know what will. I wish only the best to all of these families and the many others who declare their love and commitment regardless of what the law says.

stop the hate

On Tuesday, November 4th, Californians voted to pass Proposition 8, amending their state constitution to include a ban on gay marriage. That’s right, they wrote discrimination into their constitution. This goes against everything that America stands for, against the very principles that allowed Barack Obama to win the presidential election on that same day. That ALL men are created equal, and that discrimination is not an American value.

Tomorrow, Saturday November 15, at 1:30 p.m. eastern time, protesters around the globe will make their anger over this injustice heard. To find a protest near you, visit Join the Impact .

Freedom and justice for all – support love, fight hate!

I’m sorry, you find this threatening… how, again?
